Detective Zell had served with the Niagara Falls Police Department for over 22 years and was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division.  She had previously served with the U.S. Marshalls Violent Fugitive Task Force.

She was the recipient the Leo Maj Memorial Award (service to the community) William Gee Memorial Award (distinguished veteran police officer) the Outstanding Detective Award and a unit citation (teamwork in critical situation).  She also served the community with Tri Community Ambulance for many years.  

In her personal life Tina was a very health conscious and active woman.  She ran over 50 marathons, half marathons and 5Ks. She loved walking her dogs, Lexi and Pepper; camping, white water rafting, reading, four wheeling and anything outdoors.
